Each piece is built using hand-drawn stencils and layers of silkscreen colour, carefully printed onto handmade Japanese paper. I then work back into the surface with coloured pencil, creating quiet, contemplative works that bring a sense of calm to an interior.

I have increasingly turned to Japanese papers as a way of translating my observations of the landscape. Their fibres, rawness and worn, uneven surfaces feel intrinsically connected to the land itself. The paper already carries a sense of place, as though it bears the marks of weathered earth.

Fine dots and dashes, reminiscent of delicate embroidery stitches, contrast with fragmented lines of tiny diamond forms. Bark and plant fibres embedded within the paper become an essential part of each print, adding depth and character. The fragility of the paper, combined with the layered printing process and the hand-worked surface, introduces subtle textures and nuances that emerge through a balance of intention and chance, allowing the materials themselves to play an active role in the finished work.
